This shop endangered my life and my child’s life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS I brought my BMW X3 in May 2025 for an alignment after my cousin (a licensed mechanic) recommended I go elsewhere due to his schedule. What happened next could’ve killed me and my daughter. They torched the bushings out of the rear control arms trying to force adjustments, causing catastrophic failure in the suspension. The rear tires wore down to the belts, and about a week after leaving this shop, I lost complete control of the car while driving with my young daughter in the vehicle. I couldn’t steer. The car was literally undriveable. Even worse, they never actually adjusted the front toe. The steering wheel was crooked, and when my cousin went to fix it, the inner tie rods were seized into the outer ones, meaning no real adjustments were done. They charged me for an alignment, which was even more than their original estimate, but what they really did was break my car and put us in danger. The alignment report shows how far out of spec the vehicle was when I left. My cousin had to undo their damage, replace parts, and realign everything just to make it safe to drive again. I easily could have lost control on the highway or in traffic with my daughter in the backseat. This wasn’t just bad service. It was negligent and dangerous. Do better. Don’t risk other people’s lives; don’t say you can do a job that you can’t do just for the money.
Fast and friendly service. Ian is a pleasure to deal with and communicates well. He even suggested a cheaper alternative for a repair and it worked out great! Give them a try if you are searching for a great place to get your car serviced.
Alliston Auto Repair has been honest and fair with me over the years, diagnosing issues accurately and appropriately, including suggestions for repair other than the most obvious - ultimately saving me money. I’ve always found Ian to be honest and once point. A trait I personally appreciate. My 2020 Ram 1500 just had some exhaust work and I threw a curve ball of adding tires to the mix while it was there. Ian accommodated my request and the job was still done on time and on budget per the quotes. Thank you for the great service and advice. Much appreciated.
Ian was amazing from the first conversation to me driving off the lot. Dropped my car off for multiple issues, and in less than a week, I had it back in tip-top shape. The shop provided great communication of what was wrong with my car and how much the cost would be with no hidden fees. Best place in town if you ask me. Looks like I found my new mechanic. Thank you for the amazing service!
Never going any where else but to Ian's shop. Honest, to the point, and tells you what's necessary to fix without blowing your money for no reason. I appreciate the no-bullshit attitude and the owners crass humour, and his team is phenomenal and hard working. My entire family have gone here for years and for good reason, I don't trust anyone else. As a young- first time driver (not to mention broke) they seriously had my best interest in mind to make sure my shitty car lasted as long as it could in the cheapest way possible. These guys know what they're doing and will help you out, they're constantly busy and do their best regardless!!
0 star. The shop owner so clearly likes to pick and choose who he will deal with professionally or not and those who get the short end of the stick can guarentee to be greeted by a grumpy old man who speaks to you as if he has anything better to be doing than dealing with your concerns as a customer. If that doesnt turn you away from his business on its own just wait until you get the ridiculous quote for things you dont need to replace at all because they didnt actually take the time to inspect your vehicle properly. The gamble of him showing you even a shred of respect is too big to waste your time darkening this shops doorstep.
0 star. My wife went there to ask for a quote on a small scratch on her car's bumper. I went to multiple other mechanics after they said it would be a simple repair, suggesting me to buy sandpaper or marker to fix it myself, only costs 25 bucks. This dealer quoted my wife 400+ bucks. On the quote there's a 3.8 hours labour (80/hour, a small scratch you need 4 hours labour), Sheet metal repair (80 bucks, it doesn't hit deep into the bumper, why you need the material), Electrical/Mechanical charge (80 bucks, why do you need to touch electrical when repairing a scratch), etc. My wife handed me this quote I felt furious so I decided to write this review here to warn anyone who want to avoid being tricked.
